How often have we said this about ourselves?
Acceptance.
Accept that you are the way you are. And you are a better person for it. Yes, others may have it worse. But again, that's perspective. The quicker you can accept that you have a mental illness, the sooner you can begin recovering and feeling less guilt.
How are you helping yourself by placing blame or guilt? Others do not affect your change. You do.We tend to feel this way because its a spiralling negative feeling. What about when you are in a great mood? Do you feel guilty because others have it better than you? Or do you accept it and enjoy it? No, it's not the exact same thing. But the concept is the same. Trust in yourself. Allow yourself to feel and learn to experience your emotions. Do I mean let the emotions rain down and not work on controlling them? No, of course not. I mean, emotions are natural. They are our body's way of expressing how we feel and in some cases are defense mechanisms.
Once you let yourself be an individual and accept that you feel the way you do and you have things to work on, you can heal. Never compare yourself to anyone else. No matter what they have been through, they aren't you. They haven't lived your life. You are you and don't let anyone change that.
